Two new heritage trails for City of Southend

Southend-on-Sea City Council has teamed up with health and wellness company Go Jauntly to curate two new heritage trails showcasing the City’s history and culture.
The Southend City Heritage Trail takes in the historic and beautiful Clifftown Conservation Area, parts of the City Centre and sites close to the seafront whilst the Prittlewell Heritage Trail includes Priory Park, Churchill Gardens, the statue of Eric Cole, founder of the Ekco factory, and much more.
Go Jauntly is a health and wellness company working to increase walking, mobility and outdoor adventures. They provide an award-winning, community-based platform to promote walking for leisure, active travel, and nature connection.
Hana Sutch, CEO and co-founder at Go Jauntly, said: “Southend is packed full of interesting landmarks, historic parks and green spaces, all discoverable on foot. Hopefully they highlight how walkable the City is and encourage people to think differently about how they travel and explore locally.”
Cllr Carole Mulroney, cabinet member for environment, culture and tourism, added: “As well as our award-wining Green Flag parks and open spaces, Blue Flag beaches, and the world’s longest pleasure pier, our City is also packed with interesting heritage and conservation sites which the two new trails will highlight.
“Our vision is for Southend to be a climate friendly ‘Green City’ and swapping the car for walking shoes to explore our two heritage trails, which are free and for everyone, will benefit your physical and mental wellbeing as well as help to reduce carbon emissions in our City.”
To access the free heritage trails, you need to download the Go Jauntly app for free. The app is available for all users on iOS and Android.
