Warm Welcome for New Salvation Army Officers for Leigh-on-Sea

A church full of people gathered for a welcome service for Captains Andrew and Nicola Hammond, the newly appointed Salvation Army Officers for Leigh-on-Sea.

The service marked the beginning of the couple’s ministry and leadership within the local community. Captains Andrew and Nicola were officially welcomed by Major Lynley Oliver, one of the Divisional Leaders for The Salvation Army in the East of England.

The occasion was also attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Southend, Councillor Tony Cox and Valerie Jarvis, who joined members of the church, local residents, friends and representatives of the wider community in welcoming the new officers.

Before moving to Leigh-on-Sea, Captains Andrew and Nicola served at The Salvation Army’s International College for Officers. Andrew was the Programme Officer, while Nicola was the Business Services Officer.

Andrew said:

“Nicola and I are grateful for the very warm welcome we have received. It was wonderful to see the church full of people for this special service, and we are looking forward to getting to know the congregation and the wider Leigh-on-Sea community. We are excited to serve alongside others and to continue The Salvation Army’s Christian mission in this area.”
