Get Quizzical to celebrate the first anniversary of New Fair Havens Hospice

March 5, 2021

Grab a seat, a drink and get your best quiz brains at the ready and take part in the next Havens Hospices Virtual Quiz to raise vital funds for local hospice care.

The virtual quiz will take place on Tuesday 9th March at 8pm marking exactly a year since the first patient was cared for at the new hospice building in Priory Crescent.

The quiz will be presented by the charity’s Patron and Radio Essex presenter Su Harrison who has been hosting the charity’s series of quizzes since the first lockdown last year.

So far hundreds of people have taken part in the charity’s series of virtual quizzes and to date have raised over £23,500 to help them care for people with complex or incurable conditions across Essex.

Lydia Plews, Senior Business Development Officer at Havens Hospices says, “Thank you to everyone who has supported the charity so far by signing up to take part in our virtual quizzes – whether you have joined us at every quiz or just the one, your support is making such a difference.

“This year has been quite a journey for the charity – the Coronavirus pandemic struck just two weeks after our doors opened at the new Fair Havens, but we have continued to provide and adapt our essential palliative nursing and supportive care to hundreds of local people and that’s only thanks to our incredible community who have been supporting us all the way.

“Because we can’t organise an official celebration event due to the pandemic, we thought a quiz would be a great way to bring our community together virtually for an evening of fun and to celebrate all that Fair Havens has achieved this past year thanks to our supporters.

“The hospice is continuing to care for patients at the end of their life - our care doesn’t stop so neither can our fundraising. So, if you are looking for something to do at home, why not sign up to our quiz, have lots of fun and support your local hospice at the same time?”

Every donation, no matter how large or small, means so much to the families and patients Havens Hospices care for. £40 could provide two hours of telephone counselling to someone bereaved. £105 could provide an afternoon of nursing and supportive care to a patient in their own home.

Entry to the quiz is a minimum donation of £3 person and to sign up visit www.havenshospices.org.uk/virtualquiz. Once registered, an email will be sent with details on how to enter the quiz.
