“Engaging in cultural activity is demonstrated to be an important contributor to good mental health, which is all the more important at a time when many of us have dealt with lengthy periods of isolation.

“We have put measures in place to ensure that the public can enjoy these excellent exhibitions safely and ask all visitors to abide by the guidance.

“I would like to thank the council’s museums team and volunteers for the hard work that has gone into creating a safe environment for visitors and reopening one of Southend’s cultural gems.”

Central Museum will be open from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am – 5pm and is free to enter.
