Free (ish) Family Fun this Bank Holiday Weekend!

August 21, 2014 by Joanna Harrison

That’s it, weve made it… the long awaited August Bank Holiday weekend starts today!

With temperatures anticipated to hit a high of 20 degrees and a mix of sun, cloud and rain forecast over the next 3 days, its time to get your thinking caps on when it comes to family entertainment!!!!!

Or.. you could follow some of our suggested minimal spend ideas and let us do it for you!!???

So here it goes….

Saturday – Your day planned for you for!

The perfect way to start the weekend is without a doubt; Bacon sarnies and coffee at one of the many delicious deli's or cafes in the broadway - spend approximately £10 - 15!!

Once you’re suitably full, how about a trip to Leigh Library to get some new reading material for when the forecast rain sets in?!!! ..

......and once your little bookworms are sorted, a little play in Leigh Gardens Park will without a doubt be on the agenda? Situated right next door to the library, I think you’ll be lucky to avoid it!

With a pre packed picnic, or just some simple sandwiches at the ready, make your way down to southend seafront (parking will need to be paid for approx £2).. oh and don’t forget the bikes / scooters / skates and lots of juice!!

Park mid way along the seafront and encourage your little gorgeous terrors to cycle / scoot / skate or run..(whatever takes their fancy).. all the way to the arcades, where, with just a £1 each changed into 1 and 2 pences, you can achieve hours of fun on the slot machines!!! ….

Carrying there hundred of pounds won : ) its time to head back to the car and open that much needed bottle of wine for an exhausted mum and dad (no cost, surely you must have a bottle in the fridge!!

Sunday.....a new day!!!

Head over to ‘Belfairs’ where you will find endless fun!

Take your little ones to the main park situated at the front of ‘Belfairs’ or take a family walk through the woods and find the hidden park!!!!!!

Did you not know????!!!!!!!

Put together a mini ‘hunt and spot’ where the children have to find certain animals and insects throughout the grounds i.e. a butterfly, a bird, a dog, a horse, a snail! .. and maybe as a treat, grab yourself that much needed caffeine in-take for just £1.50 each (£3), whilst the children squeal at the delights of a mini pony ride at the stables!

Children must be 4 plus and rides cost £2 each!

Sunday afternoon – make it a lazy one with a ‘movie afternoon’… grab some chocolates and pop corn and a favorite family classic film! Toy Story?

Monday..... Now this ones for your to decide…….. Normally you’d be at work, so do you just let the kids get on with it and take charge??

A fun filled weekend for £30 and under!!!!
