Family sob as details of attack on football fan revealed

A family of a man set upon by a gang of football thugs sobbed as they heard the details of the attack. 

Simon Dobbin was set upon in March 21, 2015 in East Street, Southend, whilst visiting the area with fellow Cambridge United fans to support their team as they played Southend United. 

The court heard how that after the match, the group of friends visited the Blue Boar pub before making their way to Prittlewell Station. The group got seperated and Mr Dobbin and his friend Willy East, were attacked by the gang who they believe had clocked them earlier in the day. 

Mr Dobbin has never fully recovered from the attack. 

Thirteen men are on trial at Basildon Crown Court accused of playing a role in the attack. All deny conspiracy to commit violent disorder.

The trial continues.
