Fly to Denmark this Summer from London Southend Airport

January 25, 2024

London Southend Airport has announced another new partnership, this time with UK tour operator Mann Link Travel, which will offer flights to Sønderborg in Denmark this coming summer.

The news follows swiftly on the heels of the recent announcement by Italian airline Aeroitalia, which will begin six-weekly flights from Milan Bergamo in March.

Departing on Thursday, August 8, 2024, this four-night short break holiday offers a number of hotels with airport transfers included, and prices starting at £745 per person. For those passengers looking for seat-only, direct return flights, including 8kg of hand luggage and 15kg of hold luggage, are available from £387 per person.

Bookings can be made at londonsouthendairport.com.

The hidden gem destination of Sønderborg is located in Southern Jutland in Denmark, close to the German border, and is the ideal location for active holidays – hiking and cycling tours, horse riding, kayaking, sea fishing and golf. There are also historical attractions such as Sønderborg and Nordborg castles, Augustenborg Palace, as well as the Dybbol Mill and Battlefield.

John Upton, CEO of London Southend Airport, said: "Our summer 2024 flying programme continues to gain momentum and I am happy to announce this new and exciting collaboration with Mann Link Travel, bringing another new country to our departure boards. As the only UK airport with a direct flight to Sønderborg, we look forward to welcoming passengers from further afield than our normal catchment in Essex, London east and South East England.

Mann Link Travel Founder and Chairman Brian Kelly said: “I am delighted to partner with London Southend Airport in offering its first short-break service to Sonderborg, Denmark. We have been selling short breaks to this unique Danish holiday destination for the last three years, offering flights from Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.”

He added: “If successful, we hope to increase the number of departures available over the summer.” Formed in 1982 Mann Link Travel is one of the UK’s oldest travel companies, and plans to offer flights to the Scandinavian coastal destination with its Danish airline partner Alsie Express. Importantly, all holidays purchased will be covered under the UK tour operator’s ATOL.

Passengers can travel to London Southend by train in a mere 43 minutes from Stratford in London (with connections to the Elizabeth Line) or just 52 minutes from London Liverpool Street, before walking only 100 paces to the terminal door for a quick and easy airport experience.

The announcement follows the successful return of multiple routes from London Southend Airport as the award-winning airport operates its largest winter schedule in four years. The arrival of Mann Link Travel’s operations this summer compliments London Southend’s existing partner airline and tour operators – Aeroitalia, easyJet, Balkan Holidays and Santa’s Lapland – and it means that the airport will offer destinations in Spain, Portugal, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, Bulgaria, Italy and now Denmark.
