Friends of Leigh Community Centre meeting

The Town Council would like to thank all those who attended the first meeting earlier in the month. They hope that the friends will be a group of supporters and volunteers who will help them with the hundred and one jobs that are needed to run the community centre, from putting circulars in envelopes to showing people around and assisting them, keeping the notice boards tidy and up to date, providing tea and coffee when the cafe is closed or helping at events, manning a friends stall at the farmers market or doing odd jobs such as helping to clear the weeds around the building. Some may wish to be more involved by organising and running events to raise funds or helping to maintain and update the website, or with their marketing and advertising or perhaps the redecoration of the cafeteria or function room.

There will be no formal meetings or committees as such but they hope there will be regular informal and sociable get-togethers so that all stay in contact and, well, become friends.

They are holding an informal get together for the friends where they can get to know each other better over a cup of tea and where they can ask you directly for help, there is so much to be done. If you know others who you can bring along they would love to meet them. They will be meeting at 7.00pm on 24th October 2012 at the Community Centre.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in an exciting new project which is at the heart of our community.
