Lady McAdden Celebrates Successful Weekend of Fundraising Challenges for 50th Anniversary

Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust has celebrated an action-packed weekend of fundraising challenges as over 50 supporters came together to mark the charity’s 50th anniversary and raise vital funds for people affected by breast cancer.

The charity’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraising programme got off to an inspiring start with two major challenges taking place on consecutive days – the Lady McAdden Thames Footpath Challenge on Saturday 3 October and the Lady McAdden Wing Walk at Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent on Sunday 4 October.

For five decades, Lady McAdden has supported people before, during and after breast cancer diagnosis. The weekend’s challenges highlighted the many ways supporters can come together to raise awareness, raise funds and help ensure that nobody affected by breast cancer has to face it alone.

On Saturday 3 October, supporters took on the Lady McAdden Thames Footpath Challenge, tackling either a 42km marathon-distance route or a 21km half-marathon route along London’s iconic Thames Path.

Starting near Hampton Court, participants followed the River Thames through a changing landscape of historic green spaces, gardens and bustling city streets, passing landmarks including Kew Gardens, Battersea Park and the Houses of Parliament before finishing near the iconic Millennium Bridge.

The challenging one-day event gave participants the opportunity to push themselves physically while raising vital funds to support Lady McAdden’s breast health support, education and holistic services.

The following day, on Sunday 4 October, the fundraising action took to the skies as supporters completed the Lady McAdden Wing Walk at Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent.

Participants were harnessed to the wing of a classic biplane for an exhilarating flying experience, taking on an extraordinary personal challenge while raising vital funds for Lady McAdden’s work.

The Wing Walk formed part of the charity’s wider 50th anniversary celebrations, and an overall total of nearly £30,000 being raised from both events. Every pound raised will help Lady McAdden continue providing support to people affected by breast cancer.

The two events demonstrated the incredible commitment of Lady McAdden’s supporters, with people taking on very different challenges but united by the same goal – helping people affected by breast cancer across Essex and beyond.
