Leigh On Sea has been voted the happiest place to live in the UK

Leigh-on-Sea has been voted the happiest place to live in Britain, according to Rightmove, pipping the winner of the previous three years, Harrogate.

Residents of the town scored it highly on all 12 of the defining factors, with particularly high scores on “community spirit” and a “strong sense of belonging”, other factors included the friendliness of neighbours, local services, area upkeep, safety, and how much people feel that they can be themselves.

We all already knew it, but now that it’s official, let’s all bask in the reflected glory of our happy little town by the sea.

And no wonder we’re such a happy bunch, with all we have on our doorstep. Here’s what makes us happy in Leigh-on-Sea:

  1. The plethora of marvellous local and continental eateries.
  2. The vast array of independent boutiques and shops.
  3. The businesses that give back to the community.
  4. The top influencers that make up the fraternity of Leigh-on-Sea
  5. The festivals, oh, the festivals, there’s nowhere better for them.
  6. And this writer’s personal favourite highlight…
