Local arts council to hold open day

Wednesday 31st August 2016

Southend on Sea Arts Council (SOSAC) is holding its annual Open Day next month, aimed at promoting the great variety of arts and culture groups across the Borough.

The free event, supported by the Council, will be held at the Cliffs Pavilion on Sunday 11th September, from 10.30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

If you have ever fancied “treading the boards”, stitching some embroidery, singing in a local choir, playing a musical instrument, singing songs from the musicals or painting a picture that isn’t by numbers, then this is a must-visit event.

Cllr Ann Holland, Executive Councillor for Culture, Tourism and the Economy, says:
“The SOSAC open day offers a great chance for local people to check out a selection of various local groups across the different areas of the local arts scene, including local choirs, local drama groups, local writers and many more.

“There will be free entertainment throughout the day in the Cliffs bar area and the towns leading musical societies will be treating us to a preview from songs from their autumn shows, as well as other live performance acts in the afternoon including young up and coming singers Eva Tobin and Adam Duffill. It will be a non-stop Culture fest all day and I hope lots of people come along to find out more about the great number of groups and societies available across the Borough.”
