Local Leigh-on-sea man breaks London Marathon Record

April 25, 2024

Congratulations to local lad Lee Baynton who made it into the Guinness Book of Records on Sunday 21st April when he ran the fastest marathon in a full-body inflatable costume with a time of 03.21:07.

Lee who was running in the London Marathon dressed in an inflatable costume was raising money for local charity Havens Hospice. Lee said on his just giving page “As you may be aware by now, yesterday I was able to break the world record for running a marathon dressed in an inflatable costume (3.21). I have run many marathons over the past few years, but must admit this was probably the most enjoyable and memorable experience. The crowds were incredible, cheering and supporting me the whole way around the streets of London.

The media coverage has been fantastic and this achievement has been posted all over social media. From this exposure, I want to raise awareness and hopefully some funds for a local charity, the Little Havens Hospice. They do a lot of great work for children and young people and I would appreciate any money you can donate.
