A man has denied watching a child at a urinal and sexually assaulting him at a restaurant in Southend.

Muhammed Mucahid, a Turkish refugee from London, appeared before Southend Magistrates Court over the alleged incident on Sunday, August 5.

The court hear how Mucahid allegedly not only watched the boy as he attempted to use the urinal but then pushed him into the empty cubicle where he allegedly kissed him on the cheek. The boy managed to get away and went straight back to his father who was queuing for food at the time.

An off duty Police officer who was in the area managed to apprehend the suspect.

Mucahid, who was assisted in court by an interpreter, repeatedly shouted out in court, protesting his innocence.

Mucahid, a kebab shop worker who resides in Wood Green, North London, has been remanded in custody after denying the charges.

A trial will take place at Basildon Crown Court in February 2019.
