Managing your bin collections just got easier with Southend’s new resident-friendly App

A new app has been launched by Southend-on-Sea City Council, in partnership with SUEZ, to help residents manage their household recycling and non-recyclable waste more easily.
The free, resident-friendly app provides personalised kerbside collection information based on your address, helping residents stay up to date with their bin collection schedule. It also includes clear recycling guidance and details of local waste services, making it easier to manage waste responsibly.
The introduction of the app supports wider improvements to the city’s waste services, including upcoming changes to bin collections for over 85,000 households later this year. Key features of the app include:
Personalised bin collection calendar and reminders
Searchable tool for checking which items go in which bin
Search thousands of items to find out if and how they can be recycled locally
Information on drop-off recycling points and garden waste collections
Updates on service changes, such as during bank holidays
Cllr Lydia Hyde, cabinet member for climate, environment and waste, said: “We know change can feel a little daunting, which is why we’ve worked closely with SUEZ to provide this app to help residents manage their recycling and waste at the click of a button.
“This is part of a much bigger shift in how we manage waste across the city. The new service aims to increase recycling, reduce unnecessary waste, and provide a more consistent and efficient collection system for our residents. It reflects our administration’s commitment to sustainability, improved services, and cleaner streets for Southend-on-Sea.
“I encourage all residents to download the app and make the most of this handy new tool.”
The app is now live, and is available to download from the:
Apple App Store
Google Play Store
