Most Popular Baby Names in Southend Released
The Office of National Statistics has recently released the most popular names given to boys and girls in 2019.
Not surprisingly Oliver (which has been the top name since 2013) and George weere the most popular boys names in England and Wales with Olivia (at the top since 2016) and Amelia the most popular girls names.
We have put together a list of the top ten names in the boroughs of Southend, Rochford, Castle Point and Chelmsford.
Tommy and Hallie increased the most last year (Tommy jumped to 26th and Hallie to 58th) whilst Alfred has entered the top 100 for the first time since 1944 and Mabel the first time since 1924.
Popular culture it seems may have played a part in those choosing names with Peaky Blinders, Love Island and popular musicians’ names coming through such as Tommy, Arthur and Jaxon.
