Purple Flag Celebration To Kick Off Fireworks Season

October 4, 2013

As the nights get darker, Southend BID is giving local residents and visitors a massive reason to wrap up warm and come outside. Seven weeks of totally free, spectacular fireworks will be lighting up the night skies starting on Saturday 16th October running each weekend till Saturday 12th November. The displays will start at 7.30pm and will be fired over the east of the pier offering great views right along the seafront. The Southend Saturday fireworks are getting underway with a massive celebration of the town being awarded a Purple Flag, the first town in Essex to receive this accolade. The award recognises the quality of the town's nightlife. On Saturday 5th October Southend Council, seafront and night-time traders are coming together to organise a huge celebration as the finale to Purple Flag Week. There will be thirty bands playing in different locations across the seafront from 5pm until 9pm, when the fireworks season will start in spectacular style! Southend BID is supporting the purple flag extravaganza by running a competition to win purple goodies, one prize including an ipad mini with a purple cover.Visit www.onsouthend.com for a comprehensive directory of all the businesses in the BID area and thirty unique offers each month , plus all the latest Southend news and details of events.
