Southend Bandstand’s Easter Sunday special!

Enjoy a free fresh spring boost with sonorous sounds and Happy Easter harmonies at Southend Bandstand on Sunday 27th March.

The Bandstand in Priory Park, Victoria Avenue, Southend, SS2 6NB, will be hosting the popular local Yardarm Folk Orchestra from 3pm until 5pm.

This south Essex-based ensemble plays British and International folk music throughout the region, entertaining to great acclaim at community or fundraising events.

The band has appeared at Leigh Folk Festival, Tenterden Folk Festival in Kent as well as other high profile events in Sussex, Essex, Kent and London including spots at the Cliffs Pavilion, and the London Palladium.

While Southend Bandstand’s regular concert season starts at weekends in May, this extra early performance has been arranged specially to celebrate Easter Sunday

It is suitable for all ages, is free to attend and some seating is provided. There is limited parking, but street parking is available.

Executive Councillor for Enterprise, Tourism and Economic Development, Councillor Mary Betson said: “Southend Bandstand in our beautiful Priory Park is a really well-loved destination for residents and visitors.

“The free live music performed there ranges from brass bands, big bands and jazz groups, to choirs, wind bands and much more during weekends from May to September.

“This makes the Bandstand a firm fixture in Southend’s spring and summer entertainment calendar.

“We are very pleased to introduce this Easter Sunday concert as an added highlight. Why not come along, bring a chair or blanket and a picnic and enjoy the fun!”
