Southend in Sight receives donation from Rochford Rotary Club

Southend in Sight, Southend’s local, independent sight loss charity, is delighted to have received a donation of £500 from the Rochford Rotary Club. The donation will be used to purchase essential equipment for local visually impaired people.
Coralie West, the charity’s Sight Loss Advisor said: “During lockdown we began to give out small pieces of equipment such as partially sighted badges and lanyards, bump-ons and pens. We found that these small items made a huge difference to people at the beginning of their sight loss journey. This generous donation from the Rotary club will enable us to continue this free support.”
Jeremy Davenport, Rochford Rotarian and Southend in Sight Trustee said: “We are delighted to once again be supporting Southend in Sight in their work with visually impaired people across Southend and beyond. We know that the pandemic has affected many people in different ways, and we are happy to help local charities where we can.”
Southend in Sight is the Community Services Division of the long-established Southend Blind Welfare Organisation. Its base at 117 Hamlet Court Road offers support, advice and equipment to young and old experiencing sight issues. During the pandemic many of its services moved online and it stayed connected with its members and service users via phone calls and doorstep deliveries, maintaining a vital link with them. It is currently only open for booked appointments, but the charity’s shop at the same address, is open daily Monday to Saturday.
For more information on the services provided by the charity, please call the Southend in Sight office on 01702 342131 or email info@southendinsight.org.uk.ADD A COMMENT
