Southend leisure centres set to host open weekend

January 23, 2018 by Southend Borough Council

Tuesday 23 January 2018

With the ‘new year, new me’ resolutions in full swing, the Council, working with Fusion Lifestyle, is opening its doors for a host of activities at local leisure centres across the town to help promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, Shoeburyness Leisure Centre, Belfairs Swim Centre and Chase Sports & Fitness Centre are all taking part in an open weekend on the weekend of January 27 and 28.

Entry to the centres for the weekend will be just £1.25 for gym, pool and other fitness classes, as well as a selection of free sessions available too. People who attend will be able to take part in a variety of different activities, such as swimming, high intensity interval training (HIIT), zumba, basketball, trampolining and much more.

Cllr Ann Holland, Executive Councillor for Culture, Tourism and the Economy, said: “After over-indulging over the Christmas period, there are plenty of people out there who would like to start the year as they mean to go on by joining a gym or starting up new fitness classes.

“The open event enables residents and visitors to try a new activity in a friendly, fun environment with minimal cost. With activities taking place over the course of the weekend, I urge anyone who may be interested to take advantage of the top quality facilities that are available throughout the town.”
