With spring in the air it’s a good time to de clutter your business and find time to look at your costs. Here are some of the main areas you could save money.

Utilities

Gas and Electricity prices are still at their lowest point for years. However the Oil price has jumped considerably in the past month so the bargains may not be on offer for too long.

Insurance

Have you checked your premiums recently or do you just happily pay monthly Direct Debit? The insurance market is hugely competitive with companies offering great deals for cover on all your policies.

Also have you considered the growing threat of cyber-crime? What happens if your website or bank accounts are hacked? Only 4% of SMEs in the UK are properly covered.

Rates

Are you being charged too much for your premises? If you feel you are paying too much it is possible to appeal the rates.

Banking

Interest rates are still at historical lows. If your bank is charging you excessive rates for business loans then there are many more competitors out there. Consider the new Challenger Banks or alternative funding methods lending for more flexible loans.

Most high street banks give % interest rates on Current Accounts. If you look elsewhere you could earn in excess of 1% for your cash.

Printing

Check your printing contract and don’t buy new printers. Consider a managed service option that enables businesses to keep printers, supplies, maintenance and support in one, all-inclusive ongoing contract.
