Students at Our Lady of Lourdes take part in Viral Dance

June 28, 2020

Children and teachers at a local primary school in Leigh-on-Sea took part in a whole school socially distanced dance this week with the video going viral on Facebook.

Children in Reception, Year 1, Year 6 and those in keyworker bubbles at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School, Manchester Drive, all learnt the dance from the musical Hairspray through socially distanced PE lessons with the school’s PE teacher Mrs Emma Blainey. This all culminated in all of the children that have returned to school, performing the dance in their own separate bubble areas while being filmed on a drone by our year six teacher Mr Andy Abel.

The video has so far been viewed more than 25,000 times on facebook in 48 hours.

Headteacher Mrs Sally Nutman said ‘This dance reflects the teamwork of our staff, children and parents in this difficult time. You can’t stop our enthusiasm for learning and celebrating together as a school family.’
