Waste and Recycling Collections Won’t Change Due to August Bank Holiday

Tuesday 23rd August 2016

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is reminding residents that their waste and recycling collection day will not be affected following the upcoming August Bank Holiday on Monday 29th August.

An awareness campaign including press, radio and social media advertising is underway to remind residents that residents should simply present their recycling and waste on their usual collection day.

Cllr Tony Cox, Executive Councillor for Transport, Waste and Cleansing, said: “It’s important that we all place our recycling and waste out on the correct day, as placing it out late will mean you have to take it back into your house for the next week’s collection.

“Veolia have taken out Borough-wide advertising to remind people of this but please spread the word with your family, friends and neighbours in person or share our social media campaign to raise awareness.”
