Christmas comes early for MySouthend user James

Tuesday 15th December 2015

A Southend voluntary sector worker has been presented with an iPad mini as part of a competition to encourage people to manage their transactions with the Council online.

A total of 3,707 residents and business have so far registered with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s MySouthend Service since its launch on 22 September.

James Clifford, from Shoeburyness, was randomly picked from the 1,594 who registered before 31 October. He received his prize today at his workplace, the Hub, Victoria Shopping Centre, Southend.

MySouthend is a secure online service where residents and businesses manage transactions – such as Council Tax and Business Rates - with the Council securely 24 hours a day. Those who have registered are can access their accounts securely online, saving them time calling or visiting the Council.

A second prize draw, with £100 of Cliffs Pavilion vouchers up for grabs, closes on 31st December 2015.

Cllr Ron Woodley, Leader of the Council, said: ‘MySouthend allows our residents to manage their bills more efficiently and securely 24 hours a day. It is very positive that we now have over 3,700 registrations and this has enabled our staff to prioritise more vulnerable and elderly customers and those with complex queries.”

The second phase of MySouthend, which will see more options and services added, will be launched in Spring 2016.’
