Cocktail of the week - SUMMER THYME BLUES

They say there ain't no cure for the summertime blues... But this comes close! I recently won a Ford's Gin Cocktail Competition so I've used it for this concoction. The botanical qualities of this particular gin lend well to the herbal & citrus notes of the drink, but a good quality gin like Hendricks, Sipsmith or Tanqueray will also work well. The addition of ginger liqueur brings a nice warming antidote to the cold & wet weather recently!

You'll need:

  • 25ml Gin
  • 15ml Ginger Liqueur
  • 10ml Chambord
  • 1 teaspoon crystalized ginger
  • 1/4 of a Lime
  • 50ml Pineapple Juice
  • Fresh Thyme

The method behind the madness:

  1. In your shaker, muddle three sprigs of thyme with crystalized ginger & lime.
  2. Fill with ice then add gin, ginger liqueur, chambord & pineapple juice.
  3. Shake hard, strain into a champagne coupé or martini glass, then garnish with a sprig of thyme.
