easyJet Pulls out from Southend Airport

August 17, 2020

easyjet has confirmed that it is withdrawing it’s services from Southend Airport and that no flights will be provided after 31 August. The airline also plans to close bases at both Stansted and Newcastle.

The airport has issued the following statement:

"We are disappointed that easyJet has taken the decision to close its airport bases serving the North and East of London. easyJet will cease operations at London Southend Airport on 31 August 2020 with flights cancelled from 1 September 2020. easyJet customers will be contacted directly regarding existing bookings.

There are currently four easyJet aircraft based at London Southend Airport, serving 21 destinations which carried 1.05 million passengers last year. These are leisure-focused routes, which we expect to be attractive to other airlines. As such, we are in active dialogue with airlines regarding their interest in capitalising on these well-established, profitable routes."
