Free parking across the Borough returns this festive season

All council run car parks across the Borough will be free on Thursdays after 4pm for late-night shopping and all day on Sundays until Christmas.
The free festive parking offer will start on Thursday 2 December and runs up to and including Thursday 23 December. Last year the festive offer was extended to all council run car parks in the Borough, which supported all local businesses during the festive season and the council has once again decided to apply the same offer across the Borough.
The offer applies to council run ‘off-street’ car parks, but not ‘on-street’ parking bays. A list of council car parks is available on our website.
Cllr Ron Woodley, cabinet member for transport, asset management and inward investment said: “The Christmas period is important for local traders and that is why we are keen to once again offer our free festive parking on Thursday evenings and Sundays. This offer has proven very popular in recent years, and I am pleased to be able to offer this once again to all council owned car parks across the Borough.
“I would like to take this opportunity to remind all residents and visitors to enjoy the Borough safely whilst doing their festive shopping and activities.
“I hope this offer will attract both residents and visitors to the town for their Christmas shopping to help local retailers enjoy a bountiful Christmas after the challenging few years we have faced.”
