Havens Hospices is launching a Christmas Tree collection service for households in the new year to help raise vital funds for local hospice care.

The collection service, which will be recycling real Christmas trees, will take place on 8th and 9th January collecting trees from the postcodes SS7 and SS9.

This is the charity’s first year of collecting and recycling Christmas trees in return for a minimum donation of £5 to help fund specialist palliative nursing and supportive care to children and adults living with complex or incurable conditions.

Jane Hopkins, Voluntary Income Area Team Leader from Havens Hospices said: “We are thrilled to be offering our first Christmas tree collection service in January when we hope to collect around 500 Christmas trees across the two days thanks to the generous support of local businesses who have offered their time and vans to make collections.

“So, instead of giving yourself the gruelling task of trying to squeeze your Christmas tree in your car for trip to the local tip, why not book a collection service with us whilst supporting your local hospice charity at the same time?”

All the trees collected will be turned into wood chippings by Essex Tree Services who have kindly donated their time for free, to be reused elsewhere.

The charity’s Christmas tree collection service is kindly sponsored by Daws Heath Timber who along with Essex Tree Services, Supply 2 Location, DSA Electrical, John Sweeney Decorating, Mead Foam Limited, Benfleet Glass and Austin Stuart Project Management Limited, have made this collection service possible.
