THE ILLEGAL EAGLES CELEBRATE 30 YEARS WITH TWO SPECIAL GALA PERFORMANCES AT THE CLIFFS PAVILION
Sunday 19 July & Monday 20 July 2026
The Illegal Eagles, one of the most successful and respected live concert productions in the UK, will celebrate their 30th Anniversary with two spectacular Gala performances at their home venue, The Cliffs Pavilion, Southend, on Sunday 19th and Monday 20th July 2026. The concerts mark three decades since the band was formed in Southend in the summer of 1996, beginning a remarkable journey that has taken them to theatres and concert halls across the UK and beyond.
These unique anniversary concerts promise to be unlike any previous Illegal Eagles performance. To celebrate three decades of touring success, the band's acclaimed production will be expanded with a stunning string section from the Royal College of Music, alongside the much-loved Cream Horns brass section, bringing an even richer dimension to the timeless music of the Eagles.
Adding to the occasion, audiences will enjoy a special and exclusive reunion when local rock heroes Ray Brown and Al Vosper join Illegal Eagles founder Phil Aldridge on stage. Together they will revisit the bands earliest days and recreate some of the spirit and excitement that launched The Illegal Eagles back in August 1996.
From humble beginnings, The Illegal Eagles have grown into an international touring success story. Renowned for their meticulous musicianship, soaring harmonies and faithful recreation of Eagles classics, they have built a devoted following across the world that now exceeds 120,000 followers across Facebook and Instagram.
The anniversary celebrations coincide with their The Hotel California Tour, which sees The Illegal Eagles perform every track from the Eagles; legendary 1976 masterpiece, Hotel California, widely regarded as one of the greatest albums in rock history. Featuring iconic songs including Hotel California, New Kid in Town and Life in the Fast Lane, the album helped establish the Eagles as one of the biggest-selling bands of all time, with worldwide record sales exceeding 200 million and a catalogue that continues to captivate generations of music fans.
These Gala performances will also feature the band's acclaimed interpretations of Eagles favourites spanning the groups remarkable career, from Take It Easy and Desperado, to One of These Nights, Lyin' Eyes and The Last Resort.
Phil Aldridge, founder and producer of The Illegal Eagles, said:
"When we started the band back in 1996, none of us could have imagined where the journey would lead. To return to our home venue and celebrate 30 years with the fans who have supported us from the very beginning is incredibly special. These Gala performances will be our biggest and most ambitious production yet, and were looking forward to sharing some wonderful memories while celebrating the music of the Eagles in a truly unique way."
Few bands can claim such a close connection to Southend as The Illegal Eagles. Thirty years after their formation in the town, the bands return to The Cliffs Pavilion represents both a homecoming and a celebration of one of Essex's most enduring musical success stories.
Southend's rich musical heritage helped shape the vibrant live music scene of the 1970s and 1980s, producing influential acts such as Dr. Feelgood, Eddie &The Hot Rods and the Kursaal Flyers. While The Illegal Eagles emerged from a different musical tradition, they were formed in a town with a proud reputation for producing outstanding live bands. Today, their success extends far beyond their hometown, but these special Gala performances offer a unique opportunity to celebrate where the journey began.
With enhanced orchestration, special guest appearances, a look back at the band's origins and the complete Hotel California album performed live, these two Gala performances promise to be among the most memorable concerts in The Illegal Eagles; history.
