Your Vote Matters So Don’t Lose It

Do you want to vote in the upcoming Borough Council and Police and Crime Commissioner elections? If so, then you must register to vote by midnight on Monday 18th April.

Those who are not already on the electoral roll can register easily online at any time of day at: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by calling The Electoral Office on 01702 215010 during office hours.

For those who want to vote by post, applications must be made by 5pm on Tuesday 19th April. This is also the deadline to amend or cancel an existing postal or proxy vote.

New applications to nominate a proxy to vote on your behalf must be made by 5pm on Tuesday 26th April.

Emergency proxy vote applications in the event of medical emergencies or if a person is called away for employment related issues can be made until 5pm on the day of the election.

Rob Tinlin, Chief Executive of the Council says: "It is vital that as we approach the May 2016 elections as many people as possible are registered to vote so they can have their say on issues that affect their lives. It is quick and easy to register online and only takes a few minutes.

“If you are in any doubt as to whether you are registered or not, please call the team on 01702 215010.”

Being registered means that you can vote in relevant elections and it could also help you to gain credit.
