Free fitness for 50s and over!

Hurry to the Active 50+ Festival on Wednesday 13th January and jump at the chance to feel fitter and niftier!

The event from 1pm until 3pm at Southend Leisure & Tennis Centre, Garon Park, off Eastern Avenue, Southend, offers a whole host of free fun physical activities for adults aged 50 and over.

Funded by the Council, the Active 50+ Festival gives people of all abilities the chance to try out Dance fit, Circuits, Latin Fit, Zumba Gold, Short Tennis, Badminton, Walking Football and much more.

There will also be free health checks from Get Healthy Southend, as well as information and advice from Age Concern, Turning Tides, Essex Fire Service, Road Safety, Essex Dementia Care, and the Alzheimer’s Society.

There is no need to book, just turn up, join in and feel fantastic!

The sessions will be delivered by experienced and friendly tutors from local community company Active life for a Healthier you.

Executive Councillor for Enterprise, Tourism and Economic Development, Councillor Mary Betson said: “This free event is a terrific opportunity for people aged 50 and over to try out all kinds of different fitness activities.

“We hope as many people as possible will come along to enjoy it.
“The Festival offers a really inviting introduction to new forms of exercise, to help encourage participants to carry on with at least some of these in future.
“Representatives of a wide range of organisations will also be there - all in one place - to give very helpful advice.”
