The Holiday Inn at London Southend Airport has welcomed a range of heroes in recent weeks, from the police to medical staff.

Rohit Singh, Hotel Manager said, “It is important for them to have a safe space in a central location to fulfil their vital jobs at this difficult time.”

“Many are unable to stay within their homes in order to protect family members whilst others are being stationed to support the local community.

“Strict protocols are being followed including deep cleaning between residents and social distancing measures are in place.”

The hotel also accommodates some airport staff who are classed as key workers due to their efforts in repatriation and cargo flights to deliver essentials to affected countries.

Glyn Jones, CEO of London Southend Airport said, “We are supporting the Holiday Inn whilst they continue to provide a haven for these essential workers to get some well-deserved rest.

“We would like to give thanks to these individuals who are supporting the community during these difficult times, many are unable to see their families or return to their homes. My thanks also go out to hotel staff who are working to protect their guests. Safety is the main priority and we are all working to ensure that every precaution is being taken in line with Government guidance.”

London Southend Airport’s Holiday Inn remains operational during this challenging time. All parties are working with the Government to ensure clear guidelines are met and safeguarding is in place within the hotel.

Whilst unnecessary travel is prohibited during this difficult time it is vital to ensure a safe place for key workers to locate themselves in order to continue their vital roles.
