THE GROVE REVIEW

The impeccable service at this restaurant is apparent the moment you walk through the door. A very warm welcome from not only the waiting staff but also the owners, even the busy chefs in the kitchen acknowledge your presence with a smile. We were rushed to our table, offered the menus and a drink. We were also offered a little snack to enjoy whilst perusing the menu, nice touch! Olives? Spiced mixed nuts? Or, chorizo in red wine with roasted red peppers and rustic bread…..sold!

From the moment the curtain went up, though, I was in. Cory English, an actor I’d never seen in anything before, burst on stage with the goatee of Louis CK, the voice of a Broadway professional (funny that), and the élan of Nathan Lane. Diminutive though he was, English was an absolute powerhouse, and his grimy, seedy Bialystock oddly had us on side, despite his underhand and immoral ways – we were rooting for him.
