A car demolished "Home Sweet Home" in Leigh Road, yesterday morning. The driver and the occupants of the shop miraculously remained relatively unscathed. Royal Mail confirmed today that the Leigh sorting office will close. Services will be moved to Southend on July 1st despite 8,000 people signing a petition to oppose this move. According to Royal Mail this closure is part of a nationwide modernisation programme.
